Mr Paul Anderson is a urological surgeon, with clinical interests including bladder cancer, stone surgery, and the treatment of benign prostatic disease. After completing training as a Urologist with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Victoria he undertook a fellowship in pelvic oncology at the University Hospital of Wales, UK. He worked as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Guy’s Hospital in London before returning to Melbourne in 2008. He currently holds an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and also consults privately. He is the Assistant Director of Medical Education at the Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinical School at the University of Melbourne.

He has an active research portfolio involving surgical, medial and biomarker trials particularly in the fields of bladder cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is an Associate Editor for BJUI Compass, and is an examiner for the Urology Fellowship Examinations at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Associate Professor Niall Corcoran is a urological surgeon and research scientist with an interest in the molecular drivers of lethal prostate cancer and novel treatments. He completed his studies at the University College of Dublin in 1998 and was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2006.

In 2018, Associate Professor Corcoran was appointed VCCC Research & Education Lead – Genito-urinary cancer. In this role he is working to map opportunities across the alliance to develop expert networks, deliver strategic educational programming, improve sharing of data for research, and implement multi-partner clinical trials to speed up the translation of new research into routine clinical practice.

He is the Chief Investigator for PRECEPT – ProstatE CancEr Prognosis and Treatment project which is a research project bringing together a multi-institutional, trans-disciplinary and international team, who, through their collective experience and expertise, are uniquely placed to make significant improvements to the outcomes of men with localised prostate cancer within the next 5 to 7 years. Assoc Prof Corcoran holds a public appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Jane a highly experienced Physiotherapist, with a strong interest in pelvic health, assisting men and women with all presentations of pelvic floor dysfunction. Jane’s special interest is in sexual and persistent pelvic pain, and assisting men undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

Jane has over 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist, and 12 years focusing on pelvic health clients, having undergone further training in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation at The University of Melbourne.
Jane’s expertise and empathy, combined with her straight forward communication style, provides clients a safe environment to discuss and manage what can be challenging and private issues.

Jane uses a disciplined and holistic approach to patient care and is passionate about supporting and empowering men and women to live their best life, with a holistic, trauma informed, evidence-based approach encompassing collaboration and choice.

Jane also consults in private practice and at Cabrini Malvern and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, The Continence Foundation of Australia and the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia.

Lauren is a physiotherapist with a special interest in pelvic floor and continence-related health. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of her patients, aiming to work with individuals to empower them to achieve their goals through evidence-based care. Lauren’s consultations aim to provide clients with a safe environment to discuss and manage their symptoms.

Lauren has recently completed her Master of Physiotherapy with a pelvic health major, tutors at the University of Melbourne in the postgraduate physiotherapy program, and is the coordinator of Victoria University’s Women’s, Men’s, and Pelvic Health undergraduate subject. She also consults in private practice.

Helen has been working in urology for over 20 years, and was instrumental in establishing urology nursing professional organisations in Australia. She is employed in a private urology practice, devoted to prostate cancer, as a Nurse Practitioner and at the Australian Prostate Centre. She has presented nationally and internationally, published and won awards for her work on the nursing management of men with prostate cancer.

For the past ten years Helen has convened the Nursing & Allied Health program of the annual Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference. This highly successful and highly regarded program attracts prostate cancer nurses, continence physiotherapists, psychologists and exercise physiologists to present and learn about best practise, multi-disciplinary care of men who have prostate cancer, and their partners.

Helen is also a reviewer for the International Journal of Urological Nursing, and works with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia in developing their prostate cancer nursing education programs.

Jane is a Specialist General Medical Practitioner (GP) who has been working in suburban Melbourne for over 30 years. In 2011, Jane also started work as a Prostate Cancer GP. Jane also teaches the University of Melbourne Medical students about Cancer in General Practice.

At the Australian Prostate Centre, Jane works in the multidisciplinary “ADT and Prostate Cancer Survivorship Clinic”- where she works as part of a team seeing men on hormonal therapy for prostate cancer to help educate, monitor and manage their health holistically.

Genomics (the study of a Person’s DNA and genetic information) is emerging as an increasingly important area in the management of many cancers and diseases , including prostate cancer. In 2020 in conjunction with oncologist, Dr Vinod Ganju, Jane started a “Prostate Cancer Genomics” clinic where men can receive pre test genomic counselling and testing for the known genes related to prostate cancer.

Michael is a urology nurse with a special interest in prostate cancer survivorship. Michael has completed the Prostate Nursing Care course at Latrobe University, Graduate Certificate of Health with a specialisation in Scheduled Medicines (USQ), and is currently enrolled in the Master of Nursing (Flinders) to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Michael is a member of the Australia & New Zealand Urological Nurses Society (ANZUNS), Victorian Urological Nurses Society (VUNS), and the Australian College of Nursing (ACN).

Jess has completed her Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology, with additional study in Exercise Oncology. Jess has a particular interest in exercise oncology as she believes keeping fit and strong is the quickest way to bounce back after cancer treatment.

Jess is passionate about giving patients the opportunity to take their treatment into their own hands, and provide themselves with the best fighting chance to get through treatment with as little side effects as possible. New research has shown that exercise is not only just safe and effective for cancer patients, but also imperative to mitigate both the adverse physical and psychological effects of cancer and its treatment. With the advance of cancer treatment, we are seeing people living longer with cancer, however most cancer treatments don’t address the quality of life, and that’s where exercise makes the most difference. Exercise should be an imperative component not just after cancer treatment, but throughout the whole journey.

Tori started her nursing career at St Vincent’s Public Hospital Melbourne and became a Urology Clinical Nurse Consultant. Tori has a special interest in prostate cancer and works for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as a Specialist Telenurse. Tori has completed the Prostate Cancer Nursing Course through Latrobe University and has completed her Graduate Certificate in Oncology Nursing through the University of Tasmania.

Tori is a member of the Australia & New Zealand Urological Nurses Society (ANZUNS), Victorian Urological Nurses Society (VUNS) and the Australian Nursing Federation.

Phil graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2000 with degrees in Science and Medicine & Surgery. He undertook his surgical training in Melbourne, after which he travelled to the UK and spent a year training with one of the world’s most experienced laparoscopic surgeons. Phil was then appointed Consultant at the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, where he undertook training in robotic surgery. Since returning to Melbourne at the end of 2012, Phil has established himself as a high volume robotic and laparoscopic specialist and performs around 150 of these cases each year.

As well as his passion for surgery, Phil is committed to teaching the next generation of urologists and keeping up with advances in surgery and medicine. Phil is a faculty member and content creator at the Australian Medical Robotics Academy, an advanced new simulation centre developed to train the robotic surgeons of the future. He is the Director of robotic training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, an internationally recognised training program that attracts surgeons from around the world for fellowship training. He is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators and was the Training, Accreditation and Education supervisor at Western Health from 2013 until 2018. Phil regularly supervises training workshops through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has been an invited speaker on robotic surgical techniques at national and international conferences. He has a University of Melbourne appointment as Honorary Clinical Lecturer.

Mr Paul Gilmore is a urological surgeon with a wide range of clinical interests including uro-oncology and general urology. He completed his medical degrees and training in the United Kingdom and obtained dual Fellowships of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He completed a two year research period at the Cancer Research UK Paterson Institute in Manchester looking into the cellular basis of prostate cancer. Paul undertook the prestigious Laparoscopic and Robotic Uro-oncology Fellowship in Melbourne in 2010, during which time Paul helped perform over 100 robotic assisted radical prostatectomies for prostate cancer as well as continuing to develop his advanced laparoscopic kidney surgical skills. Paul continued his urological career in Australia and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013.

Paul is now Head of Urology at Peninsula Health and has close links with Monash University Medical School, to continue to develop the knowledge of our doctors of the future. Paul Chairs the Victorian Section of The Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand. Paul also Chairs the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Speciality Specific Exams in Urology and Vice-Chair’s the General Science Exam’s Physiology Subcommittee.

Dr Mario Guerrieri is a radiation oncologist, who has developed sub-specialist interests mainly in the area of pelvic malignancies (prostate cancer and rectal cancer), breast cancer and thoracic malignancies. He works closely with surgeons and oncologists in these cancer streams to deliver personalised, state of the art care in these common but complex malignancies.

He is closely aligned with and attends the multidisciplinary meetings at Western Health, the Australian Prostate Centre and Cabrini Hospital, and holds an honorary appointment at Western Health. He has been instrumental in setting up brachytherapy services in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne for the treatment of prostate cancer in 2008. In the search to continue to drive success rates and reduce toxicity for prostate cancer treatment, he has implemented intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), subsequently volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and then image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using implanted fiducial markers and spaceOAR.

Rachel is an experienced pelvic floor physiotherpist, with a special interest in mens health and pelvic pain. Rachel has completed a post-graduate certificate in Continence and Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation, and has Masters degree in this area at the University of Melbourne. She has also achieved Titling as an APA titled Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.

Rachel is the senior physiotherapist at APC, holds an honorary appointment at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital, and also consults in private practice. She is an invited lecturer and tutor at the University of Melbourne in the post graduate physiotherapy program in the area of men's health. She is also a convenor of the Nursing & Allied Health program of the annual Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference, and sits on the Pelvic Pain Victoria Committee.

Karen is a Urology Nurse Specialist, with a special interest in functional urology. Karen started her nursing career at St Vincent’s hospital, specialising in kidney dialysis, then discovered her passion for urology whilst working on the urology ward at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Karen holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health), Bachelor of Nursing, and Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (Renal).

Karen is a member of the Australia & New Zealand Urological Nurses Society and the Australian Nursing Federation.

Kayla has completed her Master's of Clinical Physiotherapy, specialising in continence and pelvic health. She is passionate about providing evidence-based physiotherapy for men and women across all stages of life. She is experienced in providing patient-centred physiotherapy services for a range of pelvic floor conditions, including pre and post-operative care relating to prostate surgery. She has extensive experience in exercise rehab and thrives on helping her clients achieve their health goals wherever they are in their journey.

Xuan is a urology nurse, who started her nursing career at Cabrini Private Hospital. Xuan has a special interest in prostate cancer and in addition to her role at APC, she works in urology private practice. Xuan holds a Bachelor of Food and nutrition science and a Master of Nursing Practice.

Xuan is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Urological Nurses Society (ANZUNS), Australian College of Nursing (ACN) and Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF).

Molly is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with over 8 years’ experience, working in private clinics from Perth to Melbourne. She specialises in exercise programs for Cancer patients and survivors and completed her Masters in Exercise Oncology mid 2021. She works one on one with each patient to develop individualised programs for patients who are pre and post surgery and for the prevention and management of the potential side effects of cancer treatment, including radiation, chemotherapy and hormone therapy.

Molly is passionate about expanding her knowledge base and has been accredited in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) Trauma-Informed Exercise Therapy, Exercise Oncology and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS) treatment to ensure the best outcome for her patients. She believes education is a critical component to her patients achieving their goals and strives to ensure her clients understand ‘why’ specific treatment plans are prescribed.

Dr Paul Manohar is a urologist who has undergone extensive urological training both locally and internationally. He is the director of urological research at Monash Health and a lecturer at Monash University. He is on the committee of the Royal Australiasian College of Surgeons Pain section.

He also had a special interest in urological chronic pain management. Dr Manohar has undertaken hands-on, one-on-one training with the most senior pain specialist in Sydney.

With extensive training and strong relationships with the hospitals throughout Melbourne, Dr Paul Manohar is available to provide a knowledgeable and flexible urology treatment that takes advantage of each hospitals unique setup and satisfy the location desires of patients.

Evie is a Urology Nurse Practitioner working in public and private practice. Prostate cancer has been her main focus of post graduate study, completing a Nurse Practitioner Masters and more recently a prostate cancer intimacy counselling course. She is passionate about supportive care for patients and partners and facilitates several nurse led clinics including sexual function and a prostate cancer surveillance clinic.

Emily is an experienced pelvic floor physiotherapist. She has always had a passion for pelvic health and has extensive experience in treating all pelvic health conditions. Emily has worked extensively in private practice and also works in a public continence clinic. Emily has tutored at the University of Melbourne at a post graduate level, and has previously served on the APA Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Committee. She is a Titled Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.

Dr Briony Norris is a urological surgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Eastern Health, Ballarat Health Services and The Australian Prostate Center. After completing her medical training through the University of Melbourne in 2006, she pursued a career in urology and attained her FRACS through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. She is also a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Department of Surgery.

Briony has completed 2 fellowships post her training, a Functional Urology fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital followed by an international fellowship in Robotic Surgery and Endourology at the New York University Langone Medical Centre in New York. She has presented at local and international conferences and has been published in many peer- reviewed journals.

Briony specialises in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, endourology and functional urology as well as having skills in general urology.

Dr Fairleigh Reeves is a urological surgeon with subspeciality expertise in uro-oncology and robotic surgery. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and completed her subspecialty fellowship training at the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Fairleigh also provides general urology care for adults, including investigation of elevated PSA, management of lower urinary tract symptoms, and minimally invasive treatment of kidney stones. Fairleigh also offers a range of operations for benign prostate enlargement including Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate.

Fairleigh is passionate about providing evidence-based, patient-centred care. She has a PhD in prostate cancer from The University of Melbourne, and has published widely in the field of urology.

Dr Nick Russell is an endocrinologist and general physician, with expertise in all aspects of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Adelaide in 2007, and undertook physician training at Royal Perth Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin Health, and Northern Health. In 2014 he completed specialist training in Endocrinology and in 2015 he completed training in his second specialty, General & Acute Care Medicine.

Nick is appointed as an Endocrinologist and Consultant General Physician at Austin Health and he consults at Warringal Private Hospital. He is a local examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) clinical examination and has previously been a University of Melbourne Ethical Practice tutor and Clinical Skills coach. He recently served on the RACP Victorian State Committee and on the RACP College Council.

Max Rutherford is a psychologist, couple & family therapist and teacher of mindfulness meditation with over thirty years’ experience. Since 2012 he has been working at the Royal Melbourne Hospital / Australian Prostate Centre where he sees men diagnosed with cancer, chronic pelvic pain, urinary tract and sexual health issues. Before moving to Melbourne he worked in a range of public and private settings including: Quit UK, Sydney Pain Management, Relationships Australia and The University of NSW. Max also has a private practice in Macleod.

Max is a member of both the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), and a licenced provider of Medicare services in Australia.

Dr Pras Sivam (Prassannah Satasivam) is a urological surgeon, with expertise in general urology and a subspecialty focus in open and robotic surgery for urological cancers. He has both a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and membership of the Society of Urologic Oncology. As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, he supervises research students through the University’s MDRP program. His other roles include serving as the Urological Society representative on the Movember BroSupPORT Steering Committee, and as Urology Training Supervisor at Northern Health.

After completing his postgraduate surgical training in Victoria, he accepted a prestigious Fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. This gave him formal training under some of the best urologists in the world.

Pras consults privately in Camberwell, Carlton North, Mount Waverley, and Epping, and holds a public appointment at Northern Health and an honorary appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Deanne Soares is a urological surgeon specialising in robotic cancer and non-cancer procedures. With a patient-centric approach to healthcare, she takes pride in ensuring that every patient feels comfortable and well-informed throughout their journey.

After her specialist urology training in Australia, she undertook additional Fellowship training in robotic surgery (Prostate, Kidney and Bladder Cancer) at Stepping Hill Hospital, England. She currently holds an appointment at the St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and consults privately with rooms in the CBD, Coburg and Richmond.

Beyond surgery, Dr Soares is dedicated to teaching, mentoring, and leadership within the medical community. She actively contributes as a member of the USANZ Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is part of the RACS Women in Surgery Group.

Mr Benjamin Thomas is a consultant urological surgeon with appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Epworth Hospitals, St Vincent's Private Hospitals, Melbourne Private Hospital and Peninsula Health and is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. He specializes in urological oncology surgery including robotic surgery.

Mr Thomas was trained as a urologist in Victoria, then completed a urological oncology fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge UK focusing on robotic surgery and complex oncological surgery, and a further fellowship in complex robotic surgery at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm. During this time, he completed a Master of Philosophy in Medical Sciences at the University of Cambridge.

He was a consultant urological surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals for six years, where he performed open and robotic surgery for bladder, prostate, kidney and testis cancer, was the lead surgeon for complex testicular cancer surgery and robotic surgery development in Cambridge and was previously Chair of the Urology Cancer Specialist Multidisciplinary Team in Cambridge. He was awarded multiple Clinical Excellence Awards at Cambridge University Hospitals.

Dr. Richard (Yat Hang) To is a medical oncologist and researcher as well as a PhD candidate with the University of Melbourne. His clinical interests are genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers. His area of research is investigating clinician preferences and the health economic impact of novel technologies in early stage cancer treatment. Dr To also consults at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Dr. Henry Yao is a urological surgeon providing care in all areas of general urology with special interests in uro-oncology, minimally invasive surgery (robotic and laparoscopic surgery), male and female reconstructive and functional urology. His practice is focused on providing depth of expertise in treatment of urological cancers including prostate, kidney and bladder cancers, as well as treatment of functional urological issues such as urethral stricture disease, male and female urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, neurogenic bladder and pelvic organ prolapse. He can converse with patients in fluent Mandarin.

Dr. Yao completed his undergraduate medical degree at The University of Melbourne with first class honours and undertook urology training in Australia. He completed a year of training at Western Health as the Advanced Laparoscopic and General Urology Fellow followed by fellowship training in Robotic Surgery and Uro-oncology in the UK, where he worked in a high-volume cancer specialist referral centre for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. Dr. Yao subsequently completed a Reconstructive and Functional Urology fellowship at The University of Calgary in Canada.

Dr. Yao maintains a strong interest in medical research and has published 37 peer-reviewed journal articles and co-authored a book chapter on reconstructive urology. He is actively involved in the supervision of students completing research degrees. His main research interest is in the area of cancer survivorship and improving the quality of life for cancer patients.

Dr. Yao always strive to provide compassionate and wholistic care for his patients. Dr. Yao will be there to support you throughout your journey and keep your GP up-to-date.
