Overview
This workshop is for nurses who are interested in learning foundation skills in male sexual function and prostate cancer related sexual dysfunction. Learn from experts through a series of lectures and hands-on sessions to gain knowledge and practical skills to help patients with erectile dysfunction following prostate cancer treatment.

Target Audience
Beginner / intermediate nurses working with prostate cancer patients who are interested in furthering their knowledge and building their confidence on prostate cancer related erectile dysfunction and treatment options.

Program
12.45-13.00 Registration and welcome.

13.00-13.30 Male sexual function: anatomy and physiology, and primary erectile dysfunction, Evie Mertens.

13.30-14.00 Sexual dysfunction: pathophysiology of prostate cancer treatment related erectile dysfunction (surgery, radiation, ADT / systemic therapy), Michael Cromer.

14.00-14.30 Oral medications and intracavernosal injections, Evie Mertens.

14.30-15.00 Penile pumps and alternate therapies, Michael Cromer.

15.00-15.30 Afternoon tea (provided)

15.30-16.30 Rotating small group workshops with hands on practical learning:

  • Penile pumps and medications, Michael Cromer.
  • Intracavernosal injections, Helen Crowe AM.
  • How to conduct a sexual function consultation, Evie Mertens.
