This research project is a joint collaboration between the Australian Prostate Centre and the Collaborative Centre for Cancer Genomic Medicine at the University of Melbourne. The team is researching the information needs of men with prostate cancer and how those needs might change as new means of testing become available, including genomic testing. The results will guide the development of education materials for men with prostate cancer and their families.
The current study is part of a larger trial investigating the possible role of genomic testing for identifying men with ‘favourable intermediate risk’ prostate cancer who can safely use Active Surveillance. The larger trial is called ‘GenI AIRSPACE’ (Genomically Informed Active Surveillance in Intermediate Risk Prostate Cancer).
The research is intended to provide new educational materials for prostate cancer patients which practitioners may find useful for their practice.
